I find art to be a great escape from everyday stresses and I have always had a great love for calligraphy and colouring.

how it actually happened

My story so far

2019

I learned calligraphy

Drawing was how I switched off from everyday stresses. I taught myself modern calligraphy, and unlike every other hobby I had picked up, it stuck. I kept going until the letters flowed the way I wanted them to.

THEN

People started asking for their names

I lettered names for the joy of it, and people began asking for their own. That is still the thing underneath everything here: someone’s name, drawn by hand until it flows.

THE TURNING POINT

“Could you draw his name into him?”

Then came the dogs. Somebody sent a photo of theirs and asked whether the name could be drawn into the animal. One dachshund in a top hat later, I knew exactly what I wanted to be drawing.

End up as tattoos

A lot of what I draw is a memorial, whether that is a dog, a cat or a parent, and those are the ones I take the most care over. I will draw as many drafts as it takes. Everything on the wall below is a customer’s own photo of my drawing on their skin.
